Why Us?

Our Custom Wine Cellars San Diego Designers Provide Quality Yet Budget-Friendly Wine Racks

Our Custom Wine Cellars San Diego Designers Provide Quality Yet Budget-Friendly Wine Racks

Custom Wine Cellars San Diego is not your regular contractor. We are more than your general contractor because we specialize in the science and design of wine cellars. To create fully operative wine cellars, your contractor has to understand how the wine aging process works and the factors surrounding the wine’s preservation. The Custom Wine Cellars San Diego team understands it all.

Our team’s passion for creating one-of-a-kind wine cellars goes beyond just applying what we’ve learned from our training. We value the art and effort of winemaking and recognize that every wine in a collector’s stock carries a personal story. That’s why we treat every bottle worthy of having the best protection no matter how much it costs.

At Custom Wine Cellars San Diego, you can have peace of mind knowing that your cellar is built with adequate insulation, a durable wine cellar cooling system, wine-safe lights, and racking systems that keep the bottles steady at all times.

How We Build Your Wine Cellars

Every wine cellar we produce starts off with a comprehensive, one-on-one consultation with our clients. You tell us about your wine collection and what you want to see in your wine cellar and help you imagine your cellar more vividly using 3D illustrations generated by our artists through sophisticated software.

We believe that wine cellars are an extension of your home or restaurant’s personality, and the best person who can tell us all about it is you! The Custom Wine Cellar San Diego family is here to support your vision, and we make it our goal to realize every inch of that wine cellar dream down to the last detail.

A Customized Approach to Making Wine Cellars

The Custom Wine Cellars San Diego team is all about customization. While we can bring in pre-fabricated components, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all design. Every space is different in terms of location, size, shape, and conditions, and long-lasting wine cellars are those that have been designed around the ambient conditions of the home or restaurant.

For example, if you’re living within the inland areas of San Diego, where temperature changes are more drastic than in coastal areas, we may need to increase your wine cellar’s insulation, increase the panes of its glass enclosure (if you want to use glass), thicken the studs, and use a high-grade wine cooling system that’s built to withstand severe temperature fluctuations for long periods of time.

Since San Diego has a semi-arid, Mediterranean climate where winters are wet and warm, and the summers are hot and humid, you’ll need someone who knows how to design a wine cellar that will continuously protect your wine collection throughout all the seasons.

What’s Your Priority?

Our company offers full wine cellar services from design to construction and finishings. You won’t have to source and face multiple contractors, consultants, and suppliers to have your wine cellar because we will take care of everything for you. The great thing about getting a full-service wine cellar contractor is you get to monitor the entire project from the beginning without the hassle, and it’s easier to make changes along the way because you’ll only be speaking to one point person.

When we conceptualize designs and draft the construction plan, we always ask our clients what their priorities are. Some wine cellar owners prefer capacity over looks, while others invest in aesthetics, especially when their wine cellar’s goal is to invite more guests and turn more profit.

By knowing your priorities, we’re able to make better estimates as to the dimensions of every component and the budget needed, ensuring further that every penny you give does not go to waste.

What Wine Cellar Designs Can We Do?

With Custom Wine Cellars San Diego, the sky is the limit when it comes to design. We’ve built traditional, contemporary, modern, and transitional cellars in various residential and commercial establishments, and we’ve always exceeded our client’s expectations due to our dedication, eye for detail, and craftsmanship.

We have converted spaces into wine cellars like this transitional wine closet which was once a small office/study area.  In this project, you can see how we combined different elements, including wood, glass, and metal, to create a captivating wine cellar that looks interesting on all sides.

We also utilize different kinds of wood and metal depending on the look you want to achieve. For wooden wine racks, for example, some of the most popular are mahogany, alder, oak, cedar, redwood, pine, and bamboo. For metal racks, some of the most popular finishes include satin-black, gold, and chrome.

Our Wine Cellar Building Process

While we specialize in design, we don’t ever forget about the technical components of a wine cellar. We always conduct a comprehensive heat load assessment of your space so we know how much insulation is needed and what type of cooling system would suffice.

The most common insulating material we use for our wine cellars is closed-cell spray foam insulation which effectively covers even small holes and cracks.

For cooling systems, we have a variety of commercial-grade units on hand that are built specifically for wine cellar environments. These include self-contained and split-system cooling units from WhisperKOOL, Wine Guardian, CellarPro, and US Cellar Systems.

After setting the insulation and flooring and running the electrical and cooling lines through the wall, we cover the inner wall, usually with moisture-resistant drywall. After that, we bring in the wine racks.

We have a great selection of wooden and metal wine racks you can choose from, and you have an option to have them pre-fabricated or ship them individually for onsite assembly! Yes, our cable wine racks, wooden wine racks,  metal wine pegs, and wine rods can be customized to fit your space!

When everything inside is set, we install the wine cellar door, which can also be customized to meet the design you want. The doors we use for our wine cellars are not your regular doors. They are of exterior-grade, thermally-paned, engineered to prevent warping, and built with hinges and automatic locks that ensure a tight seal.
